Non invasive prenatal DNA test

We can carry out pre natal DNA testing which will not harm the unborn baby, a sample can be taken from the mother from 7 weeks of pregnancy. The sample from the mother needs to be a blood sample, and a sample from the father needs to be a cheek swab. To collect the sample from the cheek swab you must swab for at least 5 seconds.

This advanced procedure incorporates DNA SNP microarray technology by preserving and analysing the baby’s DNA (cfDNA) that is found within the mother’s bloodstream. This is a non invasive DNA prenatal test, which means that there is no risk to the mother or the unborn child when taking this test, unlike an invasive prenatal test in which embryonic fluid is taken directly from the womb using a needle.

Please be aware that if the mother is carrying more than one child (twins, triplets etc.) then a standard paternity test wouldn’t be able to determine who the father is.

Optional extras: The DNA technical data sheet includes the DNA profiles of each person tested and the likelihood values used to calculate the final results. The electropherogram is the graphical representation of a person’s DNA profile. This includes all persons tested.
